Relativity is a small conduit that is helpful under certain circumstances only.  When elevated above its station it becomes ignorance. 

ASTROLOGY is a language that allows us to Know Self, Know Others and Know Context. 

Astrologer Arielle Guttman, who coinned and published her work on Venus Star Points, offered a powerful insight about astrology during an interview.  She explained how she was able to engage in a conference that was mostly facilitated in a language foreign to her.  She said it didn't matter.  Since everyone displayed their Astrology Charts to one another, they knew exactly who they were speaking to and how to connect. 

ASTROLOGY IS A LIVING LANGUAGE

ASTROLOGY IS A LIVING LANGUAGE that allows us to Know Self, Know Others and Know Context.  Yes there are many schools of Astrology and 'ways in' to this Practice, because Astrology is a real leveller.  Because each of us is as important as everyone else.  The artist and the intellectual often speak very different languages. One will paint an emotion, whilst the other will eloquently explain to other intellectuals what process the artist was using and how it translates into their language.  It doesn't matter who we are or what modalities we choose as our most self-nurturing navigation through Life, Astrology allows each of us to know each other as we move in and out of orbit with each other, and navigate our own journey even at its most inner sanctum.  

THERE USED TO BE MORE WORDS WITH WHICH TO PAINT PICTURES

Words aren't just grammar.  Each word we use has its own harmonic and even paints its own picture.  Wars have been won by forcing unknown words onto whole nations!  Our sub-conscious language is not the same as the language we use daily.  And this is wonderful, because when we recognize this we are able to know more, regardless of our perceived educational status.  Intellectuals also will welcome more tools that allow for discernment.   

HOW DO WE ENGAGE WITH ASTROLOGY?

ASTROLOGY is a language that allows us to Know Self, Know Other and Know Context. 
In order to engage with Astrology, or anything we want to learn, we must first come to it with a curious, relaxed equilibrium.  This means the first pre-requisite to learning Astrology or anything is engagement with our BREATH.

Comprehending what Stress is, where it is in our Body and why it is there.  Stress is often left-over knowledge input we didn't know where to 'fit', so it remains incomplete in its processing.  Hypnosis allows us explanation of this as well as healing.   By Breathing our bodies into a state of equilibrium, (breathe in for 7 and out for 11),  we have the choices open to us to make further inquiries, discard residue no longer needed (maybe that cycle has ended and will come around again another time when we have more intel to deal with it), and open to the present.  

MY SHARED OVERVIEW FOR ASTROLOGY AND A CO-CREATIVE LIFE JOURNEY

I'm learning all the time also.  Here is my working hypothesis if you want to learn Astrology and purposely co-create your own Life and the Context we share.  

1. Return to equilibrium. Before interpretation, learning, choice or meaningful action, we have to recognise stress and regain enough centredness to perceive accurately.

2. Recognise the terrain. What is happening through self, others and systems, and how are those interacting? Astrology belongs here as a sophisticated terrain-recognition instrument rather than as a deterministic fortune-telling device.

3. Co-create. Once we are centred and can see the terrain, we have some capacity to participate intelligently in what unfolds. This is where your metaphysical material can come in without abandoning practical reality.

WORKING DIAGRAMS

Many of you will be familiar with the Kabbala model of the Universe.  This very simple looking model of circles, levels and links as you know incorporates every teaching ever taught.  You can superimpose everything onto it.  Even Astrology - Kabbalistic Astrology.  This model tells the story of how things come into manifestion, how our characters encounter disruptions and how we remould ourselves as we learn, and much much more.  The levels allow spirit and soul to align with mind and body.  Every ancient teaching, every herb in the herbalists' kits, every thought and every problem. This model is located in the law of Correspondences and was pivotal to all practitioners who work upon the world using energies that can be catagorised through this model.  It dates at least as far back as ancient Babylon, but perhaps even further.  For those interested in Kabbalistic Astrology we will also put together a course and/or group meetings, online and face to face. 

A model allows us to deal with vast amounts of information by organising information into rational gateways.  A symbol, like a picture, can tell a thousand stories, yet simulataneously have every one of them known in an instant.  Mathematicians use symbols.  Scientists use jargon, words as symbols.  Astrologers do the same. 

Information about an Astrological House, or an Astrological Sign or an Astrological Planet expands in knowledge.  Each keeps on providing more eloquent and useful ways for its use.  Astrology is not just a language it is also a tool, perhaps the very tool you are searching for at any time.  I know it has constantly surprised me by being there for me throughout so much of my Life now.  And I wish the same for you. 

 

If we consider from the Kabbala Model how Form, Discernment and Transformation operate together with Grace, Creativity and Manifestation, then we move from the Kabbala to our Astrology in Context Model.  As above, so below.  As below so above.  Everything is RELATIONSHIP.  You relate to everything and every one around you, even if you don't speak to everyone you see each day.  Every behaviour you put out there is a pebble in the ocean that might seem to be insignificant but actually holds great accountability.  The more you engage with your astrology the more we realise who we are to each other and the effect we have on each other, across the different levels of our immediate Worlds, but also the different Kabbalistic levels of our existence.  It is often difficult for us to realise that when someone tells us 'you are never alone', 'what you do matters', 'what you think matters', 'you are powerful'... are all true.  

WHERE TO START

The best place to start is to get your Natal Chart opened up to you by a good Astrologer who at least comprehends most of what I have shown here on this diagram.   Many Astrologers focus on different parts of your Nativity, and this is specialising and can be really helpful, depending upon your journey at any time.  But if you want some context then it is more helpful to recognize the Promises of your Natal Chart inherently, and recognizing your own efficacy outward, through some key interpretations, and some key placements and team managers in your chart.  

A lot of this comes from Traditional Astrology, but a lot also comes from Modern Astrology.  

When Astrology came into my Life in the early 90's this was through Psychological Astrology, and esoteric Astrology.  My readings were largely based on Character and Metaphysics.  I read through psychological and psychic avenues.  Much later I studied Traditional Hellenistic and Middle Ages Astrology and the Timing Techniques that open up to us through these Astrological studies.  These allowed me to upgrade my psychic techniques also through Horary Astrology.  

This might all sound complex, and in a way it has taken me years.  But if you consider how long things took in the past compared to how long they take now, with the tools at our disposal, I believe I can distill a lot of this into comprehensive teachings that can get you up and running much faster!  And my hope is that this diagram is a good start in conveying the complex into a workable helpful system.

Looking at the Diagram of Astrology in Context, let's look at

'The Natal Chart - The core blueprint'. 

The basic ingredients: 

• Planets
• Signs
• Houses
• Fixed Stars
• Nodes
• Asteroids
• Other Points

This might seem like a lot of points.  After all in Traditional Astrology only seven planets do whatever is required.  And sometimes that seems to be all one needs.  And when we really look at what the ancients had to say we do discover that the Fixed Stars were definitely drawn into knowlege base to elucidate what could not only be given through the seven planets known at the time.  

Today, use of Asteroids, many not just a few, can completely flesh out a very otherwise confusing period in someone's life.  

No self-respecting evolutionary astrologer would ignore the nodes and pluto in a client's chart! 

And when we consider the cycles, small and large, of the Moon herself then certain Eclipse Points persist across many years, still affecting the Native of the Chart concerned.  

Each planet has its own place.  We talk about the 'condition of a planet' and how well it is able to express itself.  

Because the Chart itself is configured in a certain way for you that isn't the way for others, your chart is configured to work for you, not for others.  This is so important to realise, especially when the hard times seem to be serving us blows instead of kisses! 

Astrology's old language of malefics and benefics may seem harsh, but when comprehended wholistically we can appreciate our challenges.  Sometimes, we won't know until we look back.  And isn't this often annoyingly accurate!

• Sect
• Ascendant Lord
• Sun
• Moon
• Other Dominant Planetary influences

If you haven't come across the term 'sect' this refers to your Team of planets that basically work for you more significantly.  This is based on whether you are a day birth baby or a night birth baby.  You may have heard an Astrologer say that "Mars is his malefic contrary to sect".  This means that the Native is a Day Birth baby, whose Sect Team comprise:  Sun, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury.   Since Mars is the other Melefic (with Saturn), and since Saturn is on his Team, then Mars must be the "malefic" "contrary" to sect for this man.  So when Saturn activates in his life things may still be difficult for him but there will be an underlying helpfulness through the difficulties.  But when Mars is triggered he will need to pay attention and exercise some level of participation with purpose because Mars, whether in Sect or not, will cut and separate by nature.  Remember though that we all really need our Mars to be activated throughout our lives!  Mars rules Aries.  It is the action that makes Life itself possible from the seed under the ground to break through!  Nothing is dispensible in the Astrological Wheel of Life!

• Career, public standing, reputation
• Children, play, lovers and creative or sporting pursuits
• Higher education and foreign travel
• Partnerships

These refer to the Ruler of the Sign on the Cusp of the House concerned with whichever activity that House oversees. 

For example, the 5th House is the House of Children as well as other things.  Someone with Aries on the cusp of the 5th House might just have one Son, since Aries is singular and Mars is active yang energy!  Yes. Our Astrological wheel can be this literal! This surprises every Astrologer no matter how often we see this.  This is why some Astrologers believe that Astrology is fate and we are just pawns.  I am not one of those Astrologers.  Often inaction and fear lead to fate rationales.  We are not meant to be passive observers in our own Lives.  We are Co-Creators.  

TIMING TECHNIQUES - THE CLOCS THAT ACTIVATE OUR CHART POINTS

Now move outside of your Natal Chart for a moment.  You'll notice lots of timing techniques listed  There are even more than these.  

Let's start with Profections.  

Profections

As long as you know your age you are good to go! 

1. There are 12 Houses in an Astrology Chart. 
2. Each House, or area of our Life, is represented by a specific House.
3. Your Profection Year tells you which area will be your focus this year. 
4. The planet ruling this house will be your PROFECTION TIME LORD for the year, until your next birthday occurs.
5. The position of this planet and the houses it rules in your natal chart will be 'triggered' into activity this year. 

 

Ready to look at your Profection Year? 

When you were born, you came in on your First House Profection Year - until you turned One Year Old.  So the First House starts at Zero.  

When you turned 12 years old you came back to a First House Profection Year. 

When you turned 24 you returned to a First House Profection Year. 

When you turned 36 you did this again.... and so on. 

If the First House is 0 then the Second House is 1, 13, 25, 37 ... and so on. 

Here is a table of ages and Profection House Years.  Find your current Profection Year on this Table. 

So if you are 53 you are in a 6th House Profection year. 

If you are 21 you are in a 10th House Profection year. 

If you are 38 you are in a 3rd House Profection year. 

Next, find the Sign on the Cusp of that House. 

Use Whole Sign Houses for this exercise. 

So if you are a Rising Aries, your 3rd House will be Gemini, and the Ruler of Gemini is Mercury.

Do you know the time, place and date of your birth?

Locate the Ruler of that Sign.  This is your Profection Time Lord for the year! 

Note, Traditionally the Outer planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were not known and still today Traditional Astrologers vehemantly disagree with any allocation of these outer planets as Rulers of Signs.  I'll leave this to you to work with your choice of Traditional or the Modern rulerships for Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces.  As you recognize the transits to and from these planets throughout your Profection year you will discover for yourself whether one or both are significant to the events in your own Life. 

 

WHAT KINDS OF EVENTS AND INTERESTS CAN WE EXPECT EACH YEAR AS THE DIFFERENT HOUSES OF OUR CHART COME INTO PROMINENACE THROUGH THE ASTROLOGICAL TIMING TECHNIQUE OF PROFECTIONS? 

 

Do you remember the last time you moved house?  You may have been experiencing a 4th House Profection year.  But if you weren't then your moving House would have had more to do with another area of your life.  By tracing the Profection Time Lord for that Year you will most likely discover that the same Ruler of your 4th House also rules the House that prompted your move that year.  Because your 4th House is the House of Home. 

When you look at the above Chart you can see that some planets rule more than one sign.  If your Profection Year House is ruled by Jupiter as Ruler of Sagittarius, then your Pisces House will also form a part of the story for you that same year, and most likely connect in all sorts of ways throughout your life, depending upon the prominenance of Jupiter across your key Team players and masters in your inner circle of 'Astrology in Context'.  

For now, let's just reiterate some key words for each House of our Natal Chart. 

Summary 

• Now you know your Profection House Year. 
• You have checked your Natal Chart and found key words for that House. 
• You have discovered who your Profection Year Time Lord is by checking which Planets Rule which Signs.  

Now we will add to this. 

If your Profection House this year is the 3rd House.  And perhaps you have Gemini on the cusp of that House, then you will have discovered that Mercury is your Time Lord for this year, and that your main focus will be on things to do with your third House.  You'll have realised that these might include taking up journalism or using your journalistic talents to write about your neighbourhood, or methods of commuinication, or maybe help your brother or sister or a neighbour write their memoirs!  

Now, check the following: 

What other House in your Chart is Ruled by your Profection Time Lord? 

Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, so whatever House you have both of these then they will be activated this year.  The main House for your Profection Year will be the most significant, but the other House Ruled by Mercury, in this example, will also play a role.  Say Gemini is on your 7th House and you are in a 7th House Profection Year.  You may find that your public standing in the 10th House of Virgo is affected by the actions of your 7th House Marital or Business Partner.  

Where is your Profection Time Lord placed in your Natal Chart? 

Your Profection Year Time Lord might be in his own Rulership, so you've already got what you need to move to the next step. 

But often the Time Lord is anywhere at all in the Natal Chart!  So let's pretend that for this example, Mercury is the Time Lord of your 7th House Profection Year, he brings in the 10th by his Rulership of Virgo also, which sits on your 10th House, and he himself is in your 6th House in Taurus in your Natal Chart.  Now you are dealing with three areas of your life all affecting your 7th House as your Profection Year House.  So the matters of the 6th House might reveal a lot more about what key events are unfolding for you this year.  Because Mercury is never far away from the Sun it will usually only be situated in the adjacent or same sign as the Sun.  Other planets will be different to this the further out we go in the solar system.  

Tracking your Profection Year throughout the Year - through keeping an eye on your Profection Year Time Lord. 

So if Mercury is your Time Lord for this year then you will be having some fun with quite a bit of activity, all centred and pointing back to that prominent house for this year!  

Mercury moves quite quickly.  Not as fast as the Moon.  When she is your Profection Year Time Lord things happen super fast because she changes sign every two and a half days!  She'll be repeating events and causing ups and downs all pointing to the signifcant House for that year!  Mercury is never far away from the Sun.  He moves and retrogrades.  Because Mercury is Mercury however, expect lots of fun and games.  He is the planet who has winged sandles and makes lots of Magick!  If you are a Gemini Sun Sign you'll love this year, but if you were born under a fixed sign you will want to be more flexible this year to gain from this House's significant events!  

If Mars is your Time Lord then you'll have about two months in each sign to help you navigate and make discoveries you want to make about your Profection year house.  

If Jupiter is your Time Lord then you'll only traverse one or two signs by transit.  But that doesn't mean you won't have transits to your Jupiter!  

Saturn spends about two and a half years in a sign. If he is your Time Lord you might find he ingresses into the next sign before your year is out but only if he is already later in the sign he started in for you this year.  

Venus moves about the same rate as the sun about one sign per month, but she can retrograde and spend longer in a sign than the sun does. 

Profections is a really fun and useful way to start to become pro-active with your own Chart.  

Get to know the planets.  

Knowing who your Profection Time Lord is each year, allows you to get to know the Planet itself a lot better, and how this planet helps you navigate and express the promises of your natal chart.  

Watch out for it's transits to new houses and other planets and points.  Also watch other planets transiting it throughout the year.
